To All Generations
September 13, 2025
The world might seem colder and more violent today than in the past. If we observe the news, it confirms this conclusion. News stories commonly report on actions of hate. And it doesn't seem to be getting any better. The Bible tells us that this downward spiral of evil would happen. Scripture says that the world will "increase in wickedness" and "the love of most will grow cold" (Matthew 24:12). The fact is that we are living in a time or generation where the love of God is becoming more absent in society. What is an example of such hate? Road rage is just one example that reflects the heart of our present society. The impatience, anger, aggressiveness, and profanity in road rage shows an absence of love. Of course, road rage might seem trivial regarding a reflection of God's love. However, the commonplace of road rage in our society shows the prevalent attitude of our generation. And such a attitude is not filled with patient, gracious, and forgiving acts.
Nevertheless, we can rest assured that God's love does not grow cold. God's love was, is, and will always be "hot" towards us. He is always ready to forgive us of our sins. God is always willing to hear our prayers. And He is always there for us. As Scripture states, "God will never leave us or forsake us" (Deuteronomy 31:6). The word forsake here means to leave in a place of lack. Thus, God will never leave us in "a place of no love." God promises us that His love is always present and active in our lives. This love for those who accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior extends to living forever with God. So no matter what, rest assured that God's love, mercy, and goodness are for "all generations" (Psalm 100:5). To put it another way, God's love will not get cold over time. And for those who want to accept Jesus, God's burning love is waiting for them.
This message by Peter Thompson emphasizes the burning love that God has for us.
